Laura joined IBP in 2021 as a Program Officer of the Open Budget Initiative, in which she collaborates managing the implementation of the Open Budget Survey in a sub-set of countries in Latin America and co-leading processes to improve fiscal openness, increase opportunities for public participation and deepening collaboration with civil society actors within countries to strengthen their capacity to actively engage in budget processes.
Before joining IBP, she spent over 7 years conducting research and advocacy on open budgets. Most recently, Laura was the Fiscal Transparency Initiatives Coordinator at Fundacion Solidaridad and worked closely with many colleagues on several IBP initiatives, including the OBS, LATERAL project, and Budget Credibility Multi-Country Research. She completed a Masters degree in Advertising at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Spain, and a Bachelors of Social Communication at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Dominican Republic. Laura was also part of the first cohort of IBP Leadership Development Initiative Fellows by the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
