Joan has worked in the development sector for almost 25 years working mostly with non-governmental organizations in different roles. She has experience developing projects from conceptualization through implementation to project closure. Her particular strengths lie in multi-sectoral advocacy, having led advocacy projects at national, regional and international levels.

Her particular passion is facilitating economic empowerment and leadership opportunities for women and girls, sustainable corporate governance for CSO’s/NGOs and capacity building for local non-governmental organisations.

Prior to joining IBP in May 2020, she worked as a Consultant Grants Manager for the Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund, co-funded by the MacArthur Foundation and another anonymous donor. She also worked for 9 years with the African Women’s Development Fund as Donor Liaison Specialist, where she successfully led a USD $1.6 million Gates Foundation-funded regional advocacy initiative for the prioritization of family planning as a means of ensuring women’s health and economic development in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, and also as Resource Mobilisation Manager in Plan Ghana between 2004 and 2008.

Joan holds a First Degree Sociology with Spanish and an MBA in Human Resource Management both from the University of Ghana, Legon and certificates in Advertising, PR and Marketing. She is a Certified Trainer in the AFP Smart Advocacy Tool.
