Budgets can dance!

Nov 17, 2008 | Budget Transparency | 0 comments

It is very rare for the dour world of public finance and danceable music to meet. But I am glad to share such a rare occasion with you. Go to Youtube listen to the campaign song of the Open Budget Index 2009.

The OBI 2009 will document and compare the availability of budget documentation in 85 countries and will be launched on 1 February 2009.

Here are the lyrics for you to follow with the music:

It’s your Money

Music and Lyrics: Patrick Hickey

It’s your money

Where’s it gone?

Check it out ya`ll

Where’s it gone?

It’s your money

Where’s it gone?

Check it out ya`ll

Where’s it gone?

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, I wanna know

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, I wanna know

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, I wanna know

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, oh, oh yo!

Ching Ching, that’s what we’re all thinking

Is it all just sinking?

It’s so hard to see

I just want some information

Before this inflation ends up killing me.

Mr. Minister, I want a word with ya!

I got pot-holes in my road.

And I’m mad, cause I know I paid my tax

And I wanna see something come back.

I’m curious, I wanna take a look

Wanna double check, I wanna see the books.

Are you ready for some guidance?

Keep my money out the Cayman Islands.

It’s your money

Where’s it gone?

Check it out ya`ll

Where’s it gone?

It’s your money

Where’s it gone?

Check it out ya`ll

Where’s it gone?

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, I wanna know

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, I wanna know

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, I wanna know

Who knows where the money goes when the doors are closed, oh, oh yo!

Es mi dinero, es mi dinero, Es mi dinero.
